From Kultaranta to Mäntyniemi: Schroderus’ Sculptures Move to the President’s Official Residence

Kimmo Schroderus’s sculptures, exhibited in the gardens of Kultaranta, The President of the Republic of Finland’s summer residence, this summer, will be relocated to Mäntyniemi, the President’s official residence in Helsinki, for the winter season. Mäntyniemi will open its doors to the public on 18 September 2026.
The sculpture exhibition Growth, presented at Kultaranta, closed on 30 August 2026. Held annually in the grounds of the President of the Republic’s summer residence, the exhibition showcases contemporary Finnish sculpture in a unique setting.
The four works by Kimmo Schroderus displayed at Kultaranta – Fourth Thought (2022), Party Monster (2023), Undercover (2026) and Second Thought (2022) – will be relocated to Mäntyniemi in September. The sculptures will be on view in the garden of the President’s official residence until spring 2027.
The exhibition is organised in cooperation with the Office of the President of the Republic, the Alfred Kordelin Foundation and WAM Museum of Contemporary Art.
Visitors will have the opportunity to view the works on 18 September, when Mäntyniemi hosts an open house. Kimmo Schroderus will be present to meet visitors. Further information about visiting hours is available on the website of the Office of the President of the Republic.
Kimmo Schroderus (b. 1970) is renowned for his large-scale, futuristic sculptures made of acid-resistant stainless steel. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki and the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. In 2004, he was awarded the prestigious Ars Fennica Prize.
The Alfred Kordelin Foundation and the Office of the President of the Republic have organised sculpture exhibitions at Kultaranta since 2011. From 2026 onwards, Turku-based WAM Museum of Contemporary Art has joined the partnership and is responsible for producing the exhibitions.

The Alfred Kordelin Foundation promotes breakthroughs in society. The Foundation supports Finnish science, art and public education with more than six million euros annually. Established in 1918 based on the will of businessman Alfred Kordelin, the foundation is one of the oldest grant foundations in Finland.

Kordelinin säätiön kaupunkirahastojen apurahat uudistuivat kuluvana keväänä. Apurahoilla mahdollistetaan uudenlaisen taide- ja kulttuuritoiminnan kokeileminen rahastojen alueella ja tuetaan hankkeita, jotka vahvistavat paikallisidentiteettiä.
